Corporate junk mail is developing better camoflauge. I'm pretty good at spotting the "official" documents that are actually solicitations, but I spent a fairly large chunk of time today investigating two very official looking State of California registration documents that turned out to be very sophisticated junk mail.

Despite having worked in that industry for six years, that's really annoying.

But it was nice to throw them out and check those items off my list as "done."

It aggrevates me too, to receive advertisements from Westbrook Honda that are placed in similarly designed envelopes to those used by the US Treasury and IRS for income tax purposes.

I've seen those. In this case, they looked convincingly like legitimate filings that we are required to make with the Secretary of State. The ones that look like they're from the FCC make me even crazier, because we *cannot* make a mistake with THAT agency!

I'm glad to be out of that industry. It was interesting, but kind of... slimy sometimes.
