First Thanksgiving Dinner

We were supposed to spend Thanksgiving at my parents' house, like usual. In that case, my responsibilities are to bring the apple pie, make the gravy, and generally be my mother's kitchen monkey - which mostly consists of conversation and staying out of the way.

This year we have been banned from Brookfield. Mom is home from the hospital, and they are both definitely on the mend - I'll talk about that more later. But we've been told to stay the hell away until they give the all-clear. So on Monday I decided that I may as well give it a try.

Not bad for my first turkey:

Bob is currently taking a care package down to my parents. It's a long round trip, especially today, but it sounds like it will make mom very happy.

This Thanksgiving I am profoundly grateful for my parents and that they are one their way back to health.

May you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving, however or whether or not you celebrate it.

Oh, and here is a random picture of Charlotte from Simplefare - just 'cause:

Thank you.

It all turned out well - I'm pleased.

They may kill each other now, but that's an old familiar problem. I'm hugely relieved.

I hope that Ms Charlotte greeted the turkey in the Evil Uncle Hugh approved manner:

And I hope it tasted as good as it looks.

I recognise that apron in the picture of her.

She still doesn't have the initial "O" sound, but she's working on it. Always with a big grin. Everything tasted wonderful - I'm very pleased with myself.

The apron does look vaguely familiar, doesn't it?

Looks tasty!
We too were home as a threesome for the first time. I got a little overambitious with the variety of dishes, forgot to allow for nap time, then we had a toddler meltdown over handwashing just before we were going to eat, so we had cooler food and later than expected...but on the whole they all tasted marvellous. And we didn't have to drive anywhere! I hope Bob's trip wasn't too trafficky...
