We're Fine

For any out there who know the connection, saw the news, and might be wondering, Bob was *not* among the 350 workers that Pratt & Whitney laid off yesterday.

This bullet we dodged.

Saw it on WFSB this morning - and had flashbacks to the cuts that Sikorsky made for 3 years in a row around Christmastime, when rocksryan was on edge about his job.

Glad Bob did not get cut. *hugs*

Yeah, he called me yesterday to let me know so that I wouldn't worry if I heard. Then last night we each called our parents to let them know. There's no good time to be laid off, but during the holidays is really crappy.

Having been in that position, I totally agree.

I had expected to have more time to prepare, and although I had a vague inkling and *wanted* to leave because the job was failing due to arcane and inefficient tasks, I did not believe even as it was happening that they would cut before the end of the year. Even if it made sense for tax purposes, and for the sake of not giving me the chance to qualify for healthcare, which would have happened the following week.

The job was held at Kofkoff Farms, which might explain itself right there...

Being able to give a "don't worry" call like that is still a huge relief, even though you still feel bad for the people who are on the short end of the stick. Greg got the "At least you don't work at AT&T" comment today, it would seem....

See you & the bambino at Yule?

Yes indeed. I'll be passing her around like a plate of hors d'ourves. Especially during Bob's shift on gate!

That's great to hear--your husband has had enough employment-based drama to last a while.
