Holy crap! Food science.

I made butter!

Okay, okay, I know it's easy, and probably most of my friends have done it, but I just made my first butter.  There was a merchant with churns at Balfar's Challenge, and I bought one.  Tonight I got around to doing something with it.  I made butter!  It was easy.  And so cool!  Then I made biscuits with the buttermilk.

Next I'm going to make cultured butter.  Just because I can.

Not terribly necessary, but I have a weakness for reproduction historic pottery. It's a small redware piece - about a quart. It's a good size to take to demos, and it looks nice with my pottery when it's not in use.

Because sadly, when you demo for the public, invariably no one asks about all the things you're doing *right.* There's always some humorist who wants to know "But did they have mason jars in the middle ages?" sigh. No. This way it looks nice, and you can *tell* people that they can do it at home with a mason jar.

Besides - Charlotte and I are having fun with the churn.

Fun is a good and worthwhile reason for doing something.
