PSA

For the love of God, when you leave your phone number for someone who doesn't already have it memorized, please don't rattle it off at 110 mph.  It does not amuse me to have to replay your message four times in order to write down your name and your phone number.  If you recite it slowly, I might actually only have to listen to your incoherent message once in order to write down what I need in order to call you back.

Wherein I will recite MY phone number at a proper speed, and will even repeat my name at the end in case you didn't get it the first time when I said "Hi, this is Kris from..."

I usually start a message with my name and number, then why I am calling, and then my name and number again. Because I've had to replay a lot of messages too and they always leave it at the END of the damn message! SO irritating when they've left a long message and there is no such thing as a fast-forward button on the machine.

Hell, I left my number on Wed when I was passing out (I called the MS clinic to tell them I was having a reaction, which was actually a bit nutty, why did I do that? I know they want to know, but DURING the reaction?). The number will have been left plenty slow enough because my brain was (rather literally) shutting down during the message. I am not sure what else I said though LOL I hope it was something normal. I basically passed out right after that so it's not clear in my mind what I actually said...I just know I said it really slowly and I probably sounded crazy. But hey, I'm just saying...if I can leave my number properly when I am 10 seconds away from literally dropping unconscious, what is stopping everyone else?

Ditto that.
And saying it right away is darned decent for those of us with answering machines that cut off at 30 seconds. Also much easier trying to listen to it again without a rewind button.

Points to you.

Gee, and I thought I was the only one to have to listen to the same message 10 times before I got the entire number. Still didn't get the name right however.
