Another one bites the dust

Not one, but TWO new mice in the oubliette.  I didn't think to ask him what kind.

Sigh.  We clearly need to open up that soffit.  I think we've found our Memorial Day weekend project.

I have an exterminator. He could teach Becket a trick or two :-)

If your exterminator can get the ones that are *inside* the walls, you have a home business opportunity.

I find plaster bits where he's worried at the wall where I haven't finished the repair work to try to get to things. If that oubliette is open-able by kitty paws, he will get into it if there is noise.

It is open-able with opposable thumbs and a pry-bar. I think he's out of luck.

Mice are everywhere. Can't stop 'em.
I remember taking the range hood fan down when the ex and I did our kitchen reno. Finding a dead family of mice, babies included—apparently electrocuted as the range hood would give you a hell of a shock if you touched the stove at the same time— in the attic insulation they had robbed and brought to their new abode over the area I cooked food. It was startling to say the least. It also explains why I saw random bits of rock wool floating around.

I've got pictures of it kicking around somwhere on LJ, I think.

That's on a par with opening up the wall and finding dozens of the damn things - being in the food prep area ups the ooginess factor.

I doubt I'll ever keep them completely out - we're a house in the woods, and the trees come right up on the north and west sides. I'd really like to keep the traffic to a mimimum though, and I definitely want to shut down the "traffic" into that stud bay. If I don't see em, hear em, or smell em - I can be in happy denial!
