We just dropped Charlotte off with Grandma and Grandpa so that we can go to Jane's funeral tomorrow.  While we were there, I begged a hot shower.  One forgets how GOOD an honest to goodness hot shower feels.  We're not entirely sure what's going on with the boiler/plumbing, but we don't have running hot water.  We have running tepid water.  I haven't had a hot shower for two months, and lately I've taken to heating a big pot of water on the stove for Charlotte's bath and to wash my hair.

Dad is going to come up and look at it while he's here installing the new desktop computer (that's a whole separate story), and hopefully it'll be something he and Bob can fix.  My fear is that the first step will need to be turn off the boiler and wait until the system cools down - which would means it would have to wait until late spring.  Three more months of tepid showers doesn't sound good.  Let's hope dad thinks it's fixable.

If you can finance one, a tankless water heater is a REALLY wonderful thing & will save you a ton in gas/oil in the long run. We love ours. It reduced our natural gas bill by 30% in the first year.

I've looked at those, but I'm really dreaming of a 40 gallon, super insulated hot water heater on it's own zone. We'll see where the desire and the dollars can get us.

In the meantime, you're welcome to visit here and bring your shower kit if you want to indulge in some hot water. Maybe before/after a BBM meeting? Just give me an hour's head start to make sure the bathroom's clean & empty of kid toys. (It'll still be ugly, but that's on the 2011 to-do list.)

I'm trying to decide if there's room in our microtub for the energy of two pre-K kids...

Or alternatively, we can bring a guest to swim at the water aerobics classes at Hospital for Special Care on Thursday and they have very hot showers. They even have towels. Just bring shampoo.
