Look, look, look!

It was a GOOD mail day at Eloise's house!  Assorted things that I've ordered over the last few weeks all arrived at once - it was like Christmas!  See?

Okay, it's a crappy snapshot on my kitchen table, but it's just a snapshot.

The grate is for those ugly holes in my kitchen ceiling.  It occurred to me that heating season is approaching, and once I've fired up the woodstove I won't be able to get up there until, oh, April.  I got it from this website.  After all of your marvelous input, I've decided that it's going to be painted white to blend in with the ceiling.  I'll post pictures when it's done.  I think it's going to look really nice.

Then there's the catnip eyeballs.  They come from this etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/hannapt - "because every kitty deserves an eyeball to chew on."  They're made entirely of recycled fabrics, and the cats immediately settled in to savage them - didn't even take them to a dark corner first.  I got the discount three pack.

Then, there's my fabulous mask.  Another spectacular piece from merimask .  This is a terrible snapshot - look at it here.  And it's mine, all mine.  The photo doesn't really do the colors justice.  It actually looks more metallic in person.  I think you all need a piece of gorgeously sculpted leather, don't you?  Besides, she has a kid to put through college - it's not a frivolous purchase, it's an investment in the generation who's going to be paying for our social security.  :-)  Seriously - go to www.etsy.com/shop/Merimask.  At least look around.  If you're tempted to buy something... well, that's not MY fault...  I've already hung in on the wall, and I haven't even had it three hours.

A very good mail day!

I guess I should check the mail. I can guarantee it won't be as good of a mail day for me. I showed a friend merimask's site. If she suddenly gets calls from Middle Eastern dancers, she'll know why.

I like that grate. It will definitely look nice. The catnip eyeballs are a hoot. Sunny may need some, though he's a bit energetic on catnip...right up until he turns into stoner kitty. BTW, just in case you didn't know, folding laundry on the couch and walking out of the room is a good way to wind up with it covered in fur...just saying.

You thought that somehow I didn't already know that?

The eyeballs are *hilarious*. Love them. I mean, just try to say the words "catnip eyeballs" without giggling.

My biggest mistake was having the taller pile to the outside, making a nice enclosed space between it and the back of the couch.

Oh, and he now has a meow for "I want FRESH water in my bowl." It is distinct from, "I can see the bottom of the food bowl" and "open the door, I want to go up in the attic (or out onto the porch)." Nope, he's not spoiled at all!

I read this and immediately found myself saying 'catnip eyeballs'. I really did. Out loud and everything. Nothing happened. But then, my word is 'fork'. When I get very tired, the word 'fork' suddenly becomes *hilarious*, so who knows what the heck I find funny?

Makes *me* giggle. Of course, "fork" doesn't get me - but then I'm not tired right now. :-) "Rutabega" on the other hand...

One of the odd things about humor is how variable it is. The size of the audience appears to have a HUGE impact. Years ago I wrote the text for a document that was being presented in public, and it illustrated it perfectly. When I read it out loud to myself, it was amusing. When I read it out loud to my husband, it was funny. When Adhemar read it out loud to a hundred people, it was pee-your-pants hysterical. Same words. Very odd.

Completely OT
But I just wanted to say that I like your new header design and the tag line - if it's not new, sorry, I just noticed it, and I like it. Makes me think a bit of Acidman's, "If my blog doesn't come up to your standards, lower your standards!"

I look forwarding to a first-hand look at your mask -- I've been oggling that one myself.
I wonder if it's possible to get a picture of it on Martha...

I have Martha on CD. Dad taped it for me because I was down in NYC that day. :-D

I'd forgotten about that! If you decide you want a picture of it with Her Marthaness for ease of showing off, Rob's got a way to get a good screencapture from disk.

It was extremely interesting for me to read this post. Thank author for it. I like such topics and anything connected to them. I definitely want to read more soon.
