Gestures Count

Sometime around about 6:15pm last night as I was stuck at my desk waiting for a signature from someone at a meeting in California (i.e. three time zones away), I was seriously fed up with my job.  Don't get me wrong - it's a good job, but there are days... and there's going to be a LOT like that between now and the middle of July.  But just about the time you're starting to think that maybe it isn't quite as good a job as it was the previous ten years, something like this pops up.

This past Wednesday there was a ceremony on the main company campus dedicating a new plaque that was installed right on the main circle as you come in - smack in front of the executive building and security (where all the visitors have to check in).  It reads as follows:

"Dedicated to all men and women of the United States Armed Forces whose sacrifices and deeds shall be written in history and forever remain in our memory."

All the other day to day annoyances aside, it's nice to work for a company who remembers that, in a day and age when it's not always fashionable to do so.
