Tooth #8 is fully in.  Interestingly, the top teeth erupt in almost matched pairs, then the bottom right tooth, then a delay, then the bottom left.  Odd.

On Friday she learned to crawl.  I think she didn't like the feel of the floor on her knees, and Friday was cool enough that I put pants on her.  Apparently she was all over the room at day care, but we didn't know that.  That evening we set her down on her play mat, she crawled a little ways, looked at me, grinned, and took off into the kitchen.

The bail has been installed to keep the basement door open wide enough for a cat but not wide enough for a kid, and the gates have been ordered and should arrive on Thursday.

Also on Sunday, she learned to splash in the bath.  Bob was rather damp by the time they were done.

The automatic downloads are installing at a dizzying rate!

Five days until weaning begins!

Yep. It's amazing to watch.

Of course, once all the hardware's fully configured and all the firmware updates are in, you get to spend the next 16 - 17 years tweaking the application software.

Yep. All you can hope is that you've resolved most of the major bugs.

BTW -- what size is she wearing these days and what colours do you like to see her dressed in?

She's just going into the 18-24 month sizes. On Monday after her one year checkup I'll have a weight and a length. Childrens patterns are sized really screwy...

Colors... I hate bright pink (although I'm at peace with the softer pinks,) love blue, green, and purple. Yellow is okay, and she's kind of washed out in beiges. Let's face it - all baby girls are cute in pastels, and I like them.

Get me a chest size as well if you can.

Does superwash wool work for you? Machine wash, dry flat.

That one I can do myself - even when she's wiggly.

I love wool, and "machine wash" are the magic words!

Oh my...she's mobile! How cool is that? ^_^ Mobile baby = happy baby, & that's always so darn cute & funny.

Is she playing with her wooden blocks that I sent? Char loved blocks at that age.

She's following me into whatever room I'm currently working in, which is pretty damn endearing. I'm going to do a floor level sweep in the kitchen this weekend so that there will be less to have to pay attention to while she's out there. The biggest problem is watching where I step, because unlike the cats she can't squirt out from underneath.

At the moment she's happily chewing on the blocks. She's not stacking, but she loves knocking stacks over. Her favorite toys right now are the nesting cups. I can't wait until she figures out what the blocks are for besides chewing!

Wow! I can't believe it's a year already!!

Warning, the download rate will multiply exponentially. Like another little girl we know, there's lots going on behind those eyes and you're going to find out just how much soon enough. (evil grin) The fact that she looked at you and grinned before taking off for the kitchen should function as a warning.

BTW, more presents from Sunny in the last few days. After he caught Sunday's critter, he refused to come to bed and spent the night prowling the house. At 3AM this morning I found out why. Watching him walk up to the open door to my room which, being in a corner is against a wall, take his paw to close the door partway and poke his head in to scan behind it was hysterical. It's like watching the night watchman on his rounds. He's definitely earning his keep!

Scary, isn't it?. We've already learned to be very careful - anything we do is imitated almost immediately. Once she learns English it's going to be a heck of a ride.

I'll dig out the "babylegs" to pass to you -- they're sold as fitting kids up to much older than Victoria, and also for being used as armwarmers later. But once V stopped crawling, she lost interest in them. But for grounddwellers they're *super* knee-protectors.

And congratulations on making it through the year you wanted to BF -- it's not always easy to juggle against the modern world, and I'm pleased for you that it worked out.
