Houston, we have an offer!

A job offer, that is.  A full-time, non-contract, honest-to-goodness real-employee job offer!

The details of official start date are still being worked out - HR suddenly realized that maybe they couldn't do the drug test and the background check before his contract ends on the 9th, and they're apparently not interested in extending the contract to cover, but that will all get worked out.  I suspect Bob's boss may have something to say about that.  As it stands though, there may be an "interruption in service," so to speak, but our tax refund should be arriving soon and we can live off that for a bit if we have to.

Did I mention the signing bonus?

Almost three years.  Navtec laid him off while I was still pregnant, and Charlotte will be two and a half in March.  I won't breathe easily until April when he's past his 90 days probation, but even so - this is a huge relief.

We needed this so badly.  Please let it last this time.

This is good.

But, silly question, he's been contracting there how long? And they still need a drug test and background check? WTF?

As a contractor the agency warrants my conduct (although I did have to prove citizenship to access certain material.) The government requires the drug test and the company needs to protect themselves with the background check.

I don't want to jinx you so I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic :) Congrats to Bob.

I'm happy for ya'll. Unemployment is no joke. Contract work fills the gaps but it's still fairly sketchy. A regular W2 job is the best in the end.

*fingers crossed*

I heard the govt just signed a huge contract with Boeing to build new air refuelers and everyone here is excited about it, so I was actually thinking/hoping it might be a good thing for Bob too.

Yay! So very happy for you both. He should be able to claim unemployment for the gap between if nothing else.

Are you going to take care of your shopping list with the first paycheck or after the 90-day probation point?

I needs me a fingers-crossed icon.
Oh good news! I needed that after this week. (Would you believe *WE* got water through our porch roof? Apparently I didn't get enough snow off the back porch after all.)

And tell Bob that AuntieEm wants him to go cold turkey on poppyseed bagels between now&then, ok??!
