I hate to admit it, but the logo for the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup really looks to me like a tire track that has run over all the little squashed people.  Probably not what the marketing department had in mind...

Heheh. I see what you mean. I can also see how they came up with the design -- a cricket ball has a raised band with rows of stitching round its equator and that's the bit that looks like tire tracks.

The raised band makes it possible to put a spin on the ball when its bowled so that when it bounces, it's a bit less predictable.

Oh yes - I see that clearly. It's just that the *first* thing I saw was tire tracks. Then I saw the hit-and-run victims, and THEN I saw the cricket ball. So now when I look at it, I see all the little squished people...

I didn't know that's what the band was for. Interesting. I *do* know that there are two different bats, though. I picked that up during some litigation in India.

Heh...I had to go look it up to see what you were talking about & I agree. At first glance, it looks like a terrible driving disaster.

Ditto... running over the world!! Not the image I'd have chosen...

Side track -- would you believe I have a cricket movie to recommend? Lagaan's a good movie, has a great soundtrack, and has Paul Blackthorne as a boastful English army officer. (Those uniform trousers are pretty tight, aren't they? Heh.)

IMHO this beats the Bad News Bears for a sports movie...

Maybe if all the little people weren't radiating outward from the tracks... It really does look like a Mr. Bill moment.

I wouldn't have seen the tire tracks if I'd seen the logo first. But now? It's like those songs where even if you know the lyrics, if someone else hears them wrong and tells you, you can't ever hear them right again.
