Rent a sense of proportion

I was home this morning waiting for the chimney company (more on that later - good news!), and while I was logged in working on a footage license the news was on.  This morning's sound bite of choice was various and sundry people waxing angry about Carl-Henric Svanberg using the phrase "small people."  Oh, the HORROR!!!

Okay look: BP has a lot to answer for, and a lot that they need to do.  But having histrionics about a native Swede's less than perfect command of the idiom of a highly... shall we say "unconventional?" language is nothing but grandstanding.  And absurd.

You want to have a fit about that?  Fine - when you can have your fit in perfect Swedish, go for it.  Until then, STFU.

You're being too generous!
Speaking to learn American idiomatic is like a eating piece of pie and falling up a stone!

It's like the media has suddenly gotten desperate or something, like there aren't enough scandals out there so they have to try to make one out of nothing.

The (additional) sad thing is, at least a few people will actually get upset about it, and it's just so meaningless.
